This is a 11.6 miles out and back hike from the Brainard Lake Parking or 9.6 miles if you are lucking enough to score a parking spot at the Long Lake Trailhead.

The trail crosses the creek that flows into Isabelle Lake and the trail at that point can be confusing so pay attention to the cairn.

I think the best time in the summer to hike Isabelle Glacier is July as snow is plentiful. The last time I made this hike was in early October and a large part of the glacier has melted.

This was an extra few miles past long lake (I believe). Both places and lakes were extremely beautiful. The trail itself wasn’t bad, it was just tough for few of us because we came from Michigan a day or two before and still wasn’t used the crazy elevation difference. The entire trail was filled with crazy views, so the shortness of breath wasn’t as bad because we just didn’t focus on it.

Amazing sights, moderate hike, close to other trails that are even better, but it’s worth hiking for quick one about its 8-4 miles depending where you start from I honestly got lost between other trails in the area until I got to it. About 1600ft elevation gain out and back.

This was a nice short rocky trail with some decent views. I would give the trail a 3.5, the views a 5 and what really bumps this from a 4 to a 5 for me in this review is that the Park is very well managed and organized. Everyone working there was extremely kind and helpful. Also saw some moose so that was super cool.

Easily one of my favorite hikes in Colorado. The first part to lake Isabelle is moderate-easy and much more trafficked than the second part to the glacier. Signage drastically decreases and you need to look out for cairns, it’s easy to lose your way and can get difficult especially while scrambling up the steep Rocky Mountains with loose gravel. Still plenty of snow but I did it in sneakers and was alright. Watch your foot placement, the snow is thin in some areas and there’s rivers flowing beneath! The unnamed ice lake was gorgeous, it had blue ice on it. The view from the top was incredible, but wouldn’t recommend beginners to go all the way. Took us 5 hours hiking in total, 8 with breaks and downtime. 11.2 miles total.

Very scenic hike with a relatively short climb over a rocky threshold, right over a falling stream, to an epic view of Lake Isabelle, then skirting the lake and beyond all the way up to the glacier!
